West Virginia @ East Carolina Write-Up

West Virginia (-7.5) @ East Carolina (4 Units)

Hey guys,

My play of the week this week is West Virginia (-7.5) @ East Carolina. While East Carolina looked good defensively against Virginia Tech, West Virginia is a much different team than Tech. The Mountaineers, which had one of the most potent offenses in football last year, return four of their offensive lineman and star quarterback. While they lost their RB Steve Slaton, they should not miss a beat with the illusive Noel Devine filling his shoes. If you remember last year, ECU had a very similar start defensively (although they didn't win the game) vs. V-Tech, and then went on to lose 48-7 to the Mountaineers. The main reason I believe East Carolina got the win against The Hoakies last week was because they took advantage of opportunities...opportunities which they most likely will not get vs. the Mountaineers. Look for the Mountaineers to win this matchup...BIG.

Bodog has this game at WVU - 7.5 - 105, and ECU +7.5 - 115

Any chance this line will drop down to an even 7? I highly doubt it but would love to get WVU at an even - 7 without having to buy a half point. I'm guessing it will be -8 soon.. so gonna check tomorrow morning what it is at.

Nice write up. Quick question though, what are your thoughts regarding WVU defense?

I don't think their secondary is very good, but with this hurricane that's supossed to hit Greeneville pretty hard, I think it will mainly be a ground attack. Let's hope they get the game in and everybody is safe.

At this point it looks like they're going to play the game. The final update will be given at 10:30 tomorrow morning, but it looks like they're going to try to play it. Hopefully everyone is safe and it doesn't have too much of an effect.

I think it will take a very substantial flood of money from the public to move this line down to 7, I don't think it will happen personally.

LLXC, it's tough to say what the line will do. I'm not sure if a lot of ppl will be worried about points due to the hurricane, but I took it at 7.5. Good luck!

Sorry Guys.I hate to be the dissenting view here.WVA is missing something big here and thats Rich Rodriguez. Skip Holtz has the Pirates ready to play. I think the Mountaineers will be lucky to get a win let alone a cover.

Yeah, I think we may be in trouble. Their secondary is awful. Can't really complain about their defense though because I figured East Carolina would put up points I just didn't think West Virginia's offense would play this poorly. Still a whole 2nd half though so still hope.

This game is rediculous, its impossible to be the refs.


The ball should have def. been out of bounce on the so called Pat White fumble

On the 4th and short, ECU was held, but got an aweful nice spot!

I've officially cooled off. Simply picked the wrong side here. I did not think East Carolina would be able to manhandle the West Virginia line like this.
